Best harry potter film yet! - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Reviews

I loved this film! It was worth the 6 hour wait in line for the midnight IMAX showing! After the third movie, I was disappointed and let down because I didn't feel like it did the book any justice. Goblet of Fire was completely the opposite. The story remained close to that of the book with its key elements. There were a few story lines missing, like that of Herminone's efforts to liberate the house elves, and Rita Skeeter being an animagus. However, overall it was good. I do wish, however that the Quidditch world cup scene was more action-packed. It lasted only about 5 minutes and showed NONE of the actual playing. That was the major let down for me. HOWEVER...the movie was great and I highly recommend it for the Harry Potter fan. Please be aware that this movie was rated PG-13 for a reason. I really don't feel it is suitable for young children. I know the few I saw in theater (4 or 5 years old and younger) were disturbed by the dragons, merpeople, and Voldemort. Just a thought. ENJOY the film!

The best of the bunch - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Reviews

Didn't care for the other Potter's, however, this 'Goblet' is on fire. Hats off to Mike Newell for turning an inflated book into an exciting ride. Something that grew old is now new again.

Harry potter & the goblet of fire... - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Reviews

was really good. First off all, thank God Mike Newell was able to pick up this series after the abysmal third movie. I understand that a considerable amount of the book was left out, even some significantly important parts but the movie itself was still really good. I have read all of the books and was happy to see that at least the actions that occured went in the same order as they did in the book, unlike in the third one. I was impressed with how they were able to get what they got in, in only 2 & 1/2 hours considering the book was 750+ pages. This movie was able to balance the darkness with well-timed humor and this led to a movie that our audience applauding. The only thing that I wish they would have done, or I hope they do it with the fifth movie, is make it longer with some type of intermission, or make it into two movies or something because the fifth book was excellent and it would be a shame if they mess it up. Anyways, this movie is really good and should be appreciated by all Harry Potter fans.

They just don't get it. - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Reviews

What makes the Harry Potter story a phenomenon isn't the action, but the love and devotion the characters have for each other, and the bravery and commitment to friendship they exhibit. The books have a continuing thread of what it means to have friends that mean the world to you, friends you would do anything for. The books are about family--the ones you're born with and the ones you choose to make into your family. If you're going to cut up a book to make a movie, don't cut out the glue that holds the book together. That's what every director, including this one has done. The love of the books is what is driving 90% of people to the theaters. So, before you start hacking up the next book, check with the fans. It might not hurt to have a brief chat with Peter Jackson either. Harry Potter isn't anywhere as complex as the LOTR books, and Peter Jackson had to cut a lot--but he never cut out the heart of the books. He focused on the heart and made 3 incredible movies. So far directors and screen writers keep focusing on the least important aspects of the book and missing the core entirely. Please get it together and deliver us one good movie. For me, I'd rather stay home and listen to Jim Dale's brilliant interpretation of the books on audio. He gets it.

Truly an awful movie - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Reviews

What you first have to realize is that Harry Potter is based on a series of books. These books are increasing in their page number and those in charge of creating the HP GoF movie needed to cut out a lot just to make the movie fit a comfortable time frame. Eventually, there will be other HP movies until the story has been told and is over. I fear that the GoF movie cut so much out of the book that the rest of the movies are going to fall flat as well. What happened to Dobby? SPEW? The kitchen elves? Classes at Hogwarts? ... What happened to the great hall where they dine at? It shrank! What happened to the struggle and conflict between the characters? A big theme of the series is how they need to stick together in times of trouble. Not enough emphasis was placed to show the strained bonds between the three characters. This was movie was really 'called in.' They knew with the name "Harry Potter," audiences would come, so they cut out huge plot and story lines and threw in some idiotic and chuckle scenes for the kiddies and some action scence for those caught up on special effects. Personally, I would rather have seen the book come to life, rather than some loose interpretation of something that might kind of seem like the book if I squint and turn my head to the side. I was also shocked at Emma Watson's (Hermione) acting. I thought it was just truly awful. In every scene she was like a hormonal preteen hugging, holding, clutching, crying. It definitely wasn't the level-headed, book-smart, Hermione that we have all grown to love.

Fantastic as expected - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Reviews

I loved it. No need for a review, it is worth the $10. Better than the first three, by far. Words cannot describe how great it is. May be a little scary for children 10 and under though.
