Magnificent even for a non-potter fan - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Reviews
I am not really a Harry Potter fan, but after watching this movie I think I need to buy those novels to find out what happened.
Here is my perception of the Harry Potter movies:
The Sorceror?s Stone: 4 stars (fun filled movie for children)
Chamber of Secrets: 3 stars (lost the tone of being a Potter movie with its detective stories)
Prisoner of Azkhaban: 2 stars (the director was horrible, it was really boring watching the movie it was as dry as Sahara)
Goblet of Fire: 5 stars and I would tell you why.
The three central characters revolved around:
Harry Potter- Daniel Radcliffe is really growing up fast and even though I never met him in real life I believe he is really a nice person and the way he shows is downright being a good person with a good heart. Unless he was just acting, nevertheless outstanding performance.
Hermione Granger- Emma Watson is becoming a lady and a very beautiful one indeed. During the Yule Ball she was striking as a princess when going down the stairs. I really wished we were able to see her more especially with the scenes with Harry Potter that seems to create great chemistry.
Ron Weasley- Rupert Grint is really funny but he is quite big to play the role. I remember when he was the same height as Harry on the first one and in this one he looks like a man playing with kids. With part 5 coming in 2007 he would not really fit the movie that much anymore.
New Cast:
Voldemort- Ralph Fiennes really stole the thunder from almost everyone in the movie, hope to see him more in the future. He was like a really nasty villain even with all those makeup, but you could see in his eyes that he is really evil. Bravo.
Cedric Diggory- was a good cast indeed and he would make you believe in a hero.
Fleur Delacour- was astonishingly beautiful and the producers did a great job in casting an unknown with that French accent.
Mad Eye Moody- Brendan Gleeson was madly magnificent even if he looks the absolute scary defense of the dark arts teacher. It the eye, don?t look at the eye.
Victor Krum- not much to say since he hardly have any screen time in the movie.
Old Reliables:
Albus Dumbledoor- I miss Richard the original Albus, but Sir Michael Gambon did an excellent job this time around compared to the 3rd one.
Severus Snape- Mr. Quality Minutes, even if he just show up in like 30 seconds it was worth it, especially like the one when he keeps on hitting Ronald Weasley while talking during the exam.
Hagrid- shows a funny side with a little romantic comedy with the headmistress of the French school.
The others I guess we don?t really need to mention since it would probably take the whole review out of the book if we try to analyze each one.
The Story:
The three essential ingredients of the Tri-Wizard Cup were really bestowed with climatic action sequence. I like the underwater one with the mermaid the best followed by the dragon. The cinematography was absolutely breathtaking as we jump from one scene to another compared to the very dry part 3. In fact there was not a dull moment when I was watching this one even if I have no idea what the Harry Potter book is all about. I reckon the Harry Potter mania is here to stay and this movie proves to everyone it a force to be reckoned with.
5 stars
