Work of art: totally classic - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Reviews
It was good and enjoyable even if there was a long crowd from the ticket counter to the popcorn stand. First day shows usually are long. If you watched it on any other day then you won?t feel it the Harry Potter fever anymore with the children wanted to be there.
Now on to the movie, first scene with a house that is dark and have no idea what they are talking about but the snake is cool. And Harry Potter wake up and dream the whole sequence and later they told me it was actually real. Rowling make up your mind.
Quidditch World Cup is up next and reminds you of World Cup Soccer with the Irish going up against the Bulgarians. Man, it would have been better if the Aussies participated. We would have kicked those Bulgarians?broom. They didn?t even show who won. Perhaps it was a tie or something. Then next thing you know we got action of an evil clan (death eaters they say) throwing fire into the tents. Then someone cast a spell of the Dark Mark in to the dark sky, which was good CGI by the way.
Meanwhile, Back at the Hall of Justice (I mean Hogwarts), we see the start of the Tri-Wizard cup and we sure missed the original Dumbledore, no offense to Sir Michael Gambon. The French girls were simply elegant and that gives you the lost for breath when you see them, while the guys from Bulgaria or something reminds you of some Eastern European that defines power. It was great presentation indeed in introducing them to Hogwarts that showcased exemplary choreography.
Then we see a big cup or should I say Goblet of Fire. The CG was ok with flame since they are really hard to do unless that was a real flame there. It was funny when the Weasley twins tried to fool the Goblet.
Next we get to see Mad Eye Moody that have been the template of the movie to always replaced the Defense Against of the Dark Arts teacher that teaches the three unforgivable curses. The one with Neville Longbottom would actually be revealed in the 5th movie being afraid of the torture curse.
The kids are growing up and they begin to be having romantic aspirations. The big dance in any school actually does that and with this movie it is called the Yule Ball. Harry Potter and Ron Weasley ended up with the Indian sisters. At least one of them was able to dance with Harry Potter of all the people in school. Ron and Hermione seem to be pegged to be it, but on screen you can see the chemistry far better between Harry and Hermione.
The three tasks were done very good and the action sequence was marvelous in degrees you can?t imagine with the book. The Dragon was amazing, the underwater adventure was spectacular and the Forest Maze was a web of deceit.
The director is in fact the best of the lot and during the initial stage someone who directs Four Weddings in a Funeral gives you the chill to direct something of this magnitude. He makes Prisoner of Azkhaban looks like amateur work compared to the excellent way this movie was done. Good job indeed.
Joseph Fiennes was absolutely bloody brilliant as Voldemort even it was just a few minutes in the movie and the final battle between him and Harry Potter reminds you of the lightsaber duel in another big movie.
The bad side only entails less screen time for actors like Snape, Malfoys (both Lucious and Draco), Crabbe and Goyle (good guys if you met them) and a guest appearance by Sirius Black in the fireplace.
The movie was indeed a masterpiece and would always remain part of our memories for 2005 as one of the best Hollywood has to offer. Wish you guys were there on the first day to watch this movie and if you like action then this is the one for you. If you like to be entertain then it is definitely a movie to watch. If you like an Oscar award, well it should also be considered. Kids love it and adults would also do.
